ITEMS TO CARRY ON YOUR BIKE

A common question asked by new riders is what should I make sure I carry on my bike?
I consider these to be the minimum. Opinions vary and everyone has their own but here is what I suggest:

1. A twenty dollar bill. If you loose your wallet you can buy a lot of gas or make a lot of calls with this. If you can afford more do it.
2. A leather man or similar “do everything tool”
3. A good solid knife.
4. A screw driver.
5. Allen wrenches that fit your bike.
6. Torx  tools that fit your bike. If your bike has Torx bolts.

7. About ten feet of wire. The vast majority of the time when you bike quits on the road it’s electrical.
8. A roll of electrical tape.
9. A set of plugs and a tool to install them.
10. A couple of master links for your chain. If your bike has a chain.
11. A set of points and condenser if your bike uses them.
12. A tail light bulb.
13. A flash light. I suggest the small LED type. They have a great battery life and the bulbs last almost forever
14. Spare fuses.
15. Bungee cords
16. A cigarette lighter.

These items will easily fit in a tool bag, don’t weigh much and can get you back on the road in an emergency. Put them in a small tool bag strap it on your bike and never go anywhere with out them!

In your saddlebag

17. A pair of gloves.
18. A pair of clear goggles.
19. A rain suit.
20. A Quart of oil. ( I put the container of oil in a plastic bag in case it leaks) Chances are you are not going  to find a quart of 60 weight at 10:00 at night on a Sunday in the middle of nowhere!
21. A jacket.

22. A flat repair kit.

23. Ratchet and sockets that fit your bike

I have been riding for almost thirty years and at one time or another have used all of these things on more than one occasion. You may want to add a few items depending on where you ride but keep the weight and volume down other wise you will be leaving these emergency items at home when packing for a trip!

I sell many of these items in my Ebay store if you don't already have all of them chances are I can beat most prices.DONS CYCLE WARE

12/26/07 I FOUND A NICE ITEM FOR FIVE BUCKS AT WALMART. THESE LITTLE BIKE TIRE INFLATERS WERE IN THE BICYCLE AREA. THEY ARE SMALL ENOUGH THAT THEY WON'T TAKE UP MUCH ROOM IN MY SADDLEBAG. THIS IS A LOT CHEAPER THAN THE CO2 INFLATORS.
